Belvidere Primary School

Good Afternoon Parents & Guardians

We have reached the end of an incredibly wet and windy week. However, a bit of bad weather has certainly not stopped our pupils at Belvidere from enjoying a wide range of exciting experiences.
On Monday evening, Mr Morris took our Year 5 boys’ football team to the Sports Village, where they produced an outstanding display. The team drew two matches before Ted P scored a fantastic goal in the final game to secure a victory. Impressively, the boys narrowly missed out on progressing to the next round despite not conceding a single goal – a great achievement that they should be very proud of.
On Tuesday, some of our Key Stage 1 pupils took part in a dance workshop, which they all thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you to Miss Howard for taking the pupils to the event and supporting them throughout the morning.
On Wednesday, our Key Stage 2 pupils were treated to an energetic drum workshop. The sounds coming from the hall were amazing, and many children left school clutching leaflets with further information on how to book onto the drumming sessions in the future.
Yesterday, our Year 6 Sports Leaders successfully completed their training. They will now be planning to run lunchtime tournaments for pupils during the summer term. This is in addition to the excellent support they already provide to our younger pupils during break times, and we are very proud of the responsibility they show.
Looking ahead to next week, we have Parents’ Evenings on Tuesday and Wednesday. Your child’s work will be displayed on a class table in the hall when you arrive. Teachers will collect parents and carers from there at their allocated time slots. Please do try to stick to the 10-minute appointment window to help ensure the evenings run smoothly for everyone. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Finally, a reminder that Valentine’s Bingo will take place next Thursday. Last year’s event was a real highlight of the school calendar, so we do hope you can join us for what promises to be another enjoyable evening.
I look forward to seeing many of you next week.

Have a lovely weekend.
Kind regards,

Mr G. Jones
Headteacher

Belvidere House Points

Jewellery

Please can we remind parents that children who have their ears pierced should only be wearing studs to school.

No other jewellery should be worn in school.

Headlice

We’ve recently had a few cases of head lice in school.
Please can we ask to take a moment to check your child’s hair and treat if needed.
Regular checks help us prevent them from spreading.
Thank you for your support.

Arbor Balances

Please can we remind parents that Arbor balances are kept up to date.

We truly value the flexibility we currently offer, allowing families to pay in arrears. However, if outstanding balances are not cleared promptly, we may be left with no choice but to move to a pre-payment system, as many other schools have already done.

We understand that times are challenging, and we are more than happy to discuss payment plans or offer support where needed. Please do not hesitate to contact the school office in confidence if you require assistance.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

Shropshire Schools Half Marathon - sign up closes 9am Monday 9th February

Belvidere Primary School will be taking part again this year in the Shropshire Half Marathon.

Shropshire Primary Schools Half Marathon gives children from Reception to Year 6, the chance to complete their very own cumulative Half Marathon in a supportive, non competitive environment.

With a Half Marathon representing 13.1 miles, the challenge sees children complete the first 12 miles at school over the course of a term or half term, 1 mile at a time, before running the final 1.1 miles on event day in front of family and friends.

The children are treated to a dedicated “full race” experience including race bibs, a marshalled route, music and a start and finish line gantry, allowing them to enjoy and experience the thrill of a big sporting event and to be cheered on as they complete the final leg of their challenge. They receive rewards as they progress through their mileage including a fantastic medal and t-shirt for their efforts.

Entry is £12.00 per child and the closing date is Monday 9th February at 9am.  To guarantee your child's place, payment is required in full and is payable through Arbor under the payment account Shropshire Half Marathon.  Please 'top up' the account with £12.00.

It is the parents responsibility to take their child/ren to the final 1.1 miles which will take place on Saturday 25th April 2025.

The event is licenced by England Athletics to ensure standards are that which would be expected for any Adults Half Marathon.
