Good Afternoon Parents & Guardians

What an incredibly busy and uplifting final week before the Easter break!

On Monday, our Year 5 pupils took part in their first session of Peer Mentor Training. Throughout this year, our Year 6 mentors have worked exceptionally well with our younger pupils, offering support, modelling positive behaviour, and helping to create a kind and nurturing school environment. It has been wonderful to see so many Year 5 children eager to step into these roles when they move into Year 6. Their enthusiasm, maturity and sense of responsibility were clear to see, and we look forward to watching them develop further as leaders within our school.

This week also marked our final assembly on our half termly value of Forgiveness. Together, we have explored what it truly means to begin each new day with a fresh start. One of the images we have used to support this concept is that of the beach after the tide has gone out—smooth, clean and unmarked. We encouraged pupils to see each morning in the same way: a new beginning, a chance to reset, and an opportunity to show kindness, understanding and patience.

On Thursday, our Year 5 and Year 6 pupils took part in a live Maths lesson led by Gareth Metcalf, focusing on strategies for successfully solving reasoning-style questions. The session encouraged pupils to slow down, think carefully, and consider exactly what a question is asking by removing key pieces of information.

This week, I was also pleased to announce that West Mercia Police have kindly offered to run an Online Safety course for our parents and carers. The world of technology is constantly changing, and children often understand it far better than we do. The course will take place on Wednesday 22nd April at 5pm and can be accessed via the following link: Online Training

Finally, a massive Belvidere Primary School good luck to Madeline and Harriet Barrow, who are taking on a truly impressive challenge over the Easter holidays to raise money for Coeliac UK.

Despite only having run up to 5K before, they are determined to tackle a full 10K—and we couldn’t be prouder. You’ve got this,girls!

Madeline was diagnosed with coeliac disease just before her third birthday. While she manages it incredibly well, it has a daily impact on her life—from not always being able to eat the same foods as her friends to missing out on things like birthday cake at parties. She chose to support Coeliac UK because the charity helps people like her and raises vital awareness of the condition.

As we move into the Easter holidays, I would like to thank all pupils, staff and families for their continued hard work, support and positivity. This term has been full of achievements, growth and memorable moments, and I hope everyone enjoys a well-deserved rest over the break.

No other jewellery should be worn in school.

Arbor Balances

Please can we remind parents that Arbor balances are kept up to date.

We truly value the flexibility we currently offer, allowing families to pay in arrears. However, if outstanding balances are not cleared promptly, we may be left with no choice but to move to a pre-payment system, as many other schools have already done.

We understand that times are challenging, and we are more than happy to discuss payment plans or offer support where needed. Please do not hesitate to contact the school office in confidence if you require assistance.

First Aid Messages

If your child has required first aid in school, we will send a message on Arbor to report the accident and any treatment (if required) given by 3.30pm.

Should we feel that a telephone call is required/more appropriate, then instead of an Arbor message, we will contact you to talk to you.

Breakfast & Afterschool Club

The booking form for next term is now closed.

If you require a place, please contact Mrs Craig in the office to see if there is any availability.

From next term, due to staffing implications, Friday's breakfast club will start from 7.30 and not 7am as stated on the form. This will continue until the end of the academic year.

Please ensure accounts are settled in full as soon as possible and no later than Tuesday 31st March (exception to this is those that use the tax free childcare account for wraparound care). Places are not guaranteed if there are outstanding balances.

A reminder, our Breakfast Club runs from 7.30am - 8.30am (Monday - Friday)

Children can be dropped off by coming to the office and ringing the bell.

Afterschool Club runs from 3.15pm - 5.30pm (Monday - Thursday) 3.15pm - 5.00pm (Friday)

To collect your child from afterschool club, please can parents/carers come to Reception and ring the bell on the wall and your child/ren will be brought to you.

Co-op Funeral Care Colouring Competition

A huge thank you to the Co-op Funeralcare Shrewsbury for running a colouring competition for the children.

They had so many entries and found it very difficult to choose the winners!

Rachel and Victoria came into surprise the winners and present them with their prizes!

PACC’s Healthy Lives Holiday Programme

We have been asked to share the following information from PACC;

PACC’s Healthy Lives Holiday Programme is now in its 4th year! Healthy Lives offers a variety of activities to support physical and mental wellbeing, providing children and young people with SEND in Shropshire with opportunities to create new friendships, catch up with friends, try new activities and be active. This year we have an increased offer running through all school holidays.

Please note a Parent Carer or PA will need to attend sessions.

Easter and School Half-Terms (Shropshire Term dates) - Activity sessions for 8-14 year old's and 14-25 years old's.

Summer- Activity sessions for 8-14 year old's and 14-25 years old's, all- age family activities, increased offer for children and young people with complex needs.

Nut free School

A reminder that we are a nut free school. We have children with severe allergies so we ask that nut products are not brought in lunch boxes or for snacks.
