Belvidere Primary School

Good Afternoon Parents & Guardians

Welcome back after the half‑term break! I hope this newsletter finds you well and that everyone has enjoyed a lovely first week back.
On Tuesday, our Year 3 pupils took part in Reading the Game, an excellent literacy‑promoting initiative led by Shrewsbury Town. These interactive and incredibly enjoyable sessions will continue over the next six weeks, and we are delighted to offer this experience to the children.
Thursday was a fantastic day to work in a primary school. In the morning, our Year 4 pupils enjoyed an Anglo‑Saxon workshop, taking part in a wide range of activities linked to their new history topic. The hands‑on nature of the session ensured that this unit of work began with a real wow moment.
Year 4 then moved from history to PE, as each child joined a football team to play against Shrewsbury Catholic School. Despite the truly awful weather, the children’s enthusiasm, teamwork, and energy were wonderful to see. We look forward to organising more sporting afternoons with local schools across as many year groups as possible.
On Thursday afternoon, our Year 5 pupils took part in a bread‑making workshop. The children thoroughly enjoyed the practical element of this activity and were excited to share what they had learned.
We would like to say a huge thank you to all parents and carers for your continued support and contributions towards these valuable experiences. Without your generosity, many of these opportunities simply wouldn’t be possible.
Finally, it has been lovely to see some of our pupils wearing the new school PE kit. However, I must stress that the older red kit remains perfectly acceptable—there is no expectation for families to purchase the new version. After reviewing the Big Belvidere PE kit online, I’ve noticed that their top is very similar. To help reduce costs for families, if any parents of children in Year 6 wish to purchase the secondary school kit in advance, I am happy for your child to wear this kit for their PE sessions here at school.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
Kind regards,

Mr G. Jones

Belvidere Stars of the Week

A huge well done to our Stars of the Week!

TT Rockstars and Numbots

Headlice

We’ve recently had a few cases of head lice in school.
Please can we ask to take a moment to check your child’s hair and treat if needed.
Regular checks help us prevent them from spreading.
Thank you for your support.

Jewellery

Please can we remind parents that children who have their ears pierced should only be wearing studs to school.

No other jewellery should be worn in school.

Arbor Balances

Please can we remind parents that Arbor balances are kept up to date.

We truly value the flexibility we currently offer, allowing families to pay in arrears. However, if outstanding balances are not cleared promptly, we may be left with no choice but to move to a pre-payment system, as many other schools have already done.

We understand that times are challenging, and we are more than happy to discuss payment plans or offer support where needed. Please do not hesitate to contact the school office in confidence if you require assistance.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
