Little Bells

Belvidere Primary School

I would like to begin by saying just how incredibly proud I am of all of our Year 6 pupils this week. They have completed their SATs with such determination, resilience and positivity, and they truly deserve to feel proud of themselves. It was fantastic to see them all come together this morning to enjoy their well-earned breakfast baps, and even better to see the smiles and laughter as they celebrated with their party this afternoon—especially with the added excitement of the gaming van visiting school!
Sitting the SATs does, of course, signal the beginning of the end for our Year 6 pupils. It is hard to believe that in just 8 school weeks we will be waving them a fond farewell. However, there is still so much to look forward to before then, so let’s make sure that we finish the school year with a real bang!
This week we have also been trialling SATs-style assessments with our Year 5 pupils, using last year’s papers. This has provided us with a valuable insight into where the children are excelling and where further support may be needed as they approach their final year in primary school.
How can parents help? I hear you ask…
KS2 parents – 15 minutes each night on multiplication and reading practice
KS1 parents – 15 minutes reading and Numbots practice
EYFS parents – working through your child’s weekly phonics
These small but consistent actions make a huge difference and help ensure that all of our children arrive in Year 6 with the very best chance of success.
I do recognise that fitting this into an already busy week can be challenging. However, something as simple as sharing a book before bedtime not only improves reading skills but also helps to establish a calm, positive bedtime routine. Reducing screen time in the evening can lead to better sleep, and in turn, fewer stressful mornings caused by overtired children.
Looking ahead, the next set of statutory assessments will be the Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check, which will take place during the fortnight after half term. The test is very similar to the ‘Soundcheck’ game on TT Rockstars, so plenty of practice on this over the coming weeks will be very beneficial.
Following that, during the week beginning 8th June, our Year 1 pupils will complete their phonics check. These assessments are carried out in a familiar and supportive way, ensuring that children feel comfortable and experience minimal stress.
Before we reach half term, we still have one more busy and exciting week ahead. Some of our Year 5 and 6 pupils will be testing their cycling skills as they work towards achieving Level 1 and 2 Bikeability accreditation. Our Year 3 pupils will be stepping back in time as they explore Iron Age hillforts with a visit to Oswestry hillfort and Park Hall Farm, where they will get to see a roundhouse. Meanwhile, our archery team will be 'aiming' to become county champions at the Sports Village—we wish them the very best of luck!
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Have a great weekend everyone.
Mr G. Jones

Little Bells Stay & Play Sessions

Jewellery

Please can we remind parents that children who have their ears pierced should only be wearing studs to school.

No other jewellery should be worn in school.

Arbor Balances

Please can we remind parents that Arbor balances are kept up to date.

We truly value the flexibility we currently offer, allowing families to pay in arrears. However, if outstanding balances are not cleared promptly, we may be left with no choice but to move to a pre-payment system, as many other schools have already done.

We understand that times are challenging, and we are more than happy to discuss payment plans or offer support where needed. Please do not hesitate to contact the school office in confidence if you require assistance.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
