Belvidere Primary School

Dear Parents/Carers
Another incredibly busy week at Belvidere Primary, full of wonderful highlights!
On Monday evening, I was lucky enough to accompany our school choir to Shropshire Sings. It was a truly magical event, with an audience of over 500 parents. Our children sang beautifully and had a fantastic time. A huge thank you to Mrs Sequeira and Mrs Williams for teaching the children the songs and organising the visit to the West Midlands Showground.
Although Sports Day was postponed on Tuesday, our rounders teams still braved the morning showers. Our Year 5 pupils reached the quarter-finals of the Shrewsbury Schools Tournament—an excellent achievement. Meanwhile, our Year 6 team travelled to Hadley Learning Community, where they competed against three other teams and emerged victorious. A huge thank you to Libby’s mum for coaching the team and organising the event—it was fantastic!

On Wednesday, our Year 4 pupils visited Wroxeter to enhance their understanding of Roman life as part of their History topic. Mrs Kennard has worked incredibly hard to organise a range of enriching experiences for our children to bring the History curriculum to life. Thank you for all of your dedication and hard work.
Looking ahead to next week, I am confident the weather will be kinder to us! Sports Day will take place on Tuesday with the same arrangements: gates will open at 1:00pm, with the first race starting at 1:15pm. Please feel free to bring chairs if you would prefer not to stand or sit on the ground. Children may be collected directly from the field at the end of the event—please ensure you notify a member of staff before leaving.
This week in assembly, we also began discussing our school motto: Dream Big, Work Hard, and Be Kind. We explored how Mo Farah embodied these values on his journey to becoming an Olympic champion. Why not take some time this weekend to talk with your child about what they dream of becoming in the future?
Have a great weekend, everyone—I look forward to seeing many of you on Tuesday!
Mr G. Jones

Jewellery

Please can we remind parents that children who have their ears pierced should only be wearing studs to school.

No other jewellery should be worn in school.

Arbor Balances

Please can we remind parents that Arbor balances are kept up to date.

We truly value the flexibility we currently offer, allowing families to pay in arrears. However, if outstanding balances are not cleared promptly, we may be left with no choice but to move to a pre-payment system, as many other schools have already done.

We understand that times are challenging, and we are more than happy to discuss payment plans or offer support where needed. Please do not hesitate to contact the school office in confidence if you require assistance.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

Raising awareness of Type 1 Diabetes

Currently, there are over 300 children and young people living with Type 1 diabetes across Shropshire.

The Children and Young People’s Diabetes Service have seen an increase in delayed diagnoses of Type 1 diabetes. As a result, some children are presenting to hospital with more severe symptoms, requiring urgent treatment. This may be linked to reduced awareness of the signs and symptoms of Type 1 diabetes within our communities.

To address this, a national awareness campaign, supported by Diabetes UK, is promoting the “4 Ts” of Type 1 diabetes: Toilet, Thirsty, Tired, and Thinner.

For further information, please follow the links below
